Waves

Powerful yet so beautiful

Since moving to the east coast of Canada, I have been lucky enough to see these forces of nature every single day.

Waves are rhythmic disturbances on the surface of large bodies of water, often caused by wind. Waves symbolize the ever-changing nature of life, the power of nature, and flow of emotions, representing both tranquility and ferocity, and the passage of time. Some waves are soft and delicate while others are raging and powerful. There are actually 7 types of waves, everything from tiny capillary ripples in a still body of water all the way to massive tidal or rogue waves that can cause unbelievable destruction. Most of the photos included in this gallery are referred to Surface Gravity waves as that is what we get here off the Northumberland Strait.
