A warmish, sunny day in January is the perfect time for this female Grey Seal to rest her rather round body and catch some rays. Floating on a piece of ice, she looks chill and unfazed by the human onlookers admiring her.

Large colonies of grey seals live in the western side of the Atlantic ocean, off the coast to the Canadian Maritime provinces and the northeast states of the US. There are also colonies that call the eastern side of the Atlantic, near the UK and Ireland. The Canadian Grey Seal pups generally arrive in the first few months of the year so this seal may not have a weight problem but is actually pregnant. Too bad I missed seeing the pup.

Seals represent intelligence, adaptability, and emotional balance. Placing a photo of a seal in your home or office can bring calming, water-element energy into a space. Ideal locations include the North (career) for flow or East (family/health) for harmony, while avoiding bathrooms or high-traffic areas.
